The picnickers made their own way to Uffington. Louis rode his Trek and Nick his steel Roberts on the roads. Paul, arrived a little later on his heavy off-road bike, having chosen the Ridgeway route. We were joined by John, complete with ukulele.

We ate and chatted amiably in the pleasantly warm green setting. Then John started playing his ukulele, at which point the riders all decided to ride back.
