A day out for the midweek skivers... starting with drizzly miserableness. With the headwind too, the Icknield Way road along the Spring Line was particularly hard work, made harder by not turning off as per the plan.... that's what happens when the leader is the only one knowing the route, and has the rest of the ride "off the front"...

Anyhow, second diversion of the day was when we decided not to continue along the planned route at Whelford, because it was too mucky. Good call! A quick stop near Little Faringdon to fix a puncture caused by the biggest flint ever seen in a bike tyre.

Lunch at The Plough in Alvescot was fantastic - well worth another visit as the food was excellent and the welcome was most warm and not just from the wood-burner.

The return journey was totally uneventful and better than anticipated due to the tailwind and the rain not materialising as per the forecast. Hooray!
