Sociable leisure rides for enthusiastic cyclists
Fifth Sunday – Anything goes! May be a morning or all-day ride, starting in Wantage or elsewhere, and at Blue or Red grade, including refreshment stops appropriate to the ride. A chance to do something different...
An 88km ride around the Chilterns from Benson to enjoy the autumn colours.
The ride starts from St Helen's Avenue in Benson where there is ample parking. If you get there early breakfast is available from the Waterfront Café.
Often following the Chilterns Cycleway the ride heads to Henley via Stoke Row and Kidmore End.
Refreshments will be taken at The Barn in Turville Heath.
The return to Benson will be via Radnage and Christmas Common. An additional refreshment stop can be taken at the Waterfront Café at the end of the ride.
I would classify the ride as lumpy with several climbs but nothing extreme. It should be about 1x hilly overall.
I have kept the route as much as possible to good roads but some of the small lanes in the Chilterns will be skoggy at this time of year so I would strongly recommend good tyres and mudguards. Lights would be a sensible option too.
