Sociable leisure rides for enthusiastic cyclists
First Sunday – An all-day ride starting from Wantage. The ride will be Blue or Red grade and include lunch and maybe other refreshment stops - expect to be be back by 17:30 (or 30 minutes before sunset during winter months).
An opportunity to ride an imperial century (100 miles, 160km) which is an achievement everyone should tick off in their cycling career!
I've deliberately made this pretty easy, it only comes in at 0.6x hilly, so the emphasis is on distance not hills. It's classified as red for the distance only, not hilliness or speed.
We head west to Highworth and Ashton Keynes to brunch which will be at the Malmesbury garden centre. The furthest point west will be near Tetbury, before returning via Cirencester and Bibury to Lechlade where we will take an afternoon break. From here it's the usual run back to Wantage via Bampton and Buckland. There will be other opportunities for short breaks (e.g. ice creams) as and when required
We'll take this at a relaxed audax/touring pace so everyone can enjoy the achievement and we should be back in Wantage late afternoon (I'm estimating around 5 to 6pm).
