Sociable leisure rides for enthusiastic cyclists
Fifth Sunday – Anything goes! May be a morning or all-day ride, starting in Wantage or elsewhere, and at Blue or Red grade, including refreshment stops appropriate to the ride. A chance to do something different...
Hilly full day ride starting from Shepton Mallet and taking in the ascent of Cheddar Gorge and other pearls in the Mendips - not for the long of gear!
We'll grab a an early brunch at Sweets and then head up through Cheddar Gorge (multiple ascents in order to also do the descent?) to some of the lesser known hills of the Mendips, but not necessarily lesser in difficulty...
Chew Stoke reservoir will provide an ideal ice-cream stop, or maybe something more sustaining to get us back to the start.
Please let Chris know by the end of Wednesday if you plan to come.

A ride around the stunning Isle of Wight. This is a classic ride that everyone should tick off of their bucket list! The route takes in stunning coastal roads, quaint inland villages, seaside resorts, bustling sea ports, ancient ruins and buildings. Pretty much everything this magnificent island has to offer!
The route is very undulating with few flat sections and several stiff climbs but is extremely scenic. Distance is 106km (68 miles) with around 1,500m (5,000 feet) of climbing. Which makes it about 1.4 times hilly.
We will cycle at a pace suitable for the group. The ride is very doable when taken at a sustainable pace. Do expect around 5.5 to 6hrs of actual cycling time though and bring/wear clothing appropriate for the weather forecast.
We will catch the 09:15 ferry from Lymington Pier (SO41 5SB). We will travel as day return foot passengers (£15.40 for adults and £11.50 for 60+, tickets can be bought online in advance or at the ticket office before sailing), bikes are carried free of charge. The crossing takes 40 minutes. There is a pay and display car park at the ferry terminal (£6.40 for 2-16hrs). Bring enough change for the machines.
You must arrive at least 30mins before the ferry to allow time for parking, buying tickets and boarding. Boarding commences 15 minutes before sailing. We will car share as much as possible.
There is limited food on the ferry (tea, coffee, cakes, toast) but there is a café at the ferry terminal if you want to arrive early enough to grab some breakfast!
We'll stop at the Old World Tea Rooms in Godshill for a late morning cuppa/comfort break. Lunch stop will be at the Toll Gate Café next to the harbour in Bembridge. We'll aim to stop for an afternoon tea/ice cream and comfort break at Cowes dependant on the time. Return ferry will either be the 17:20 or 18:20 from Yarmouth.
Please let me know beforehand if you are coming on the ride so I can expect to see you at Lymington.
Fourth Sunday – A morning ride starting from Wantage especially aimed at welcoming new riders to the club. The ride will be Blue grade and may include a refreshment stop en route or at the end of the ride. Expect to be back around 12:00.9:08 pm
