Overcast weather and this being the final evening ride of the summer season could have created a melancholy atmosphere but we were cheered along by the blast down through Childrey and plenty of chat. A rollercoaster of emotion was caused by a grubby old Freightliner diesel engine stopped at Denchworth, the initial high being dashed when it was discovered to have the wrong serial number. We arrived back just as dusk was gathering and headed straight to the pub for a swift pint. A nice finale.
