Six riders at Gt Bedwyn were soon joined by Louis who had ridden out. A local lady re-assured us that parking in the station car park would be fine on a Sunday.

It was still cloudy and grey after an early morning shower but the weather picked up nicely during the ride. The route changes since last December's ride worked well (no punctures!) and resulted in a good section of the Blowingstone Audax being followed up to the turn-off for Martinsell Hill.

At Woodborough Pete suggested a short detour to the Old Mill Cafe at Honeystreet. Though not gaining universal approval the consensus was for the stop, and it proved to be a good cyclist's cafe with some excellent breakfast bap options.

The modified route substituted some scenic roads through Urchfont, Potterne and Poulshot (with fine views over towards Salisbury Plain) for that from Market Lavington to Seend (and avoided the wicked little climb up to Seend!). The towpath up Caen Hill was in a much drier condition than last December and the cafe near the top, though busy, provided some much-needed sustenance (at least to those that had not availed themselves at Honeystreet!).

We enjoyed a tail breeze on the way back along Horton Road to Pewsey, with fine views of the Pewsey Hills to the North. From Burbage we took the small lanes back through Crofton arriving back at Great Bedwyn at 1415, where Louis headed off to Wendy's Cafe for a refuel.

Thank you all for a very pleasant ride.
