A dull day, brightened up at the start by excellent coffee and breakfast butties at the cafe.

The hills came thick and fast through the Matravers, and the Creeches before we dropped down into Tyneham, a deserted town evacuated for the military in 1943, and never repopulated. When you drop down, you gave to climb back up.... and then we dropped down the excellent descent to Lulworth Castle, before taking pasties for lunch down at Lulworth beach. It was heaving - the busiest I'd ever seen it.

Bar the climb past Durdle Door, after lunch was a flatter affair, going past Winfrith and up to East Creech for Dorset Apple Cake. All apart from Dave who initially overshot. Best cake ever, apparently. The final climb up the East Creech switchback was lovely as ever, and we avoided the honeypot of Corfe Castle village to take the back road back to Swanage with awesome views over Studland Heath right over Poole Harbour.

A splendid day out, made all the better by the excellent company!
