Away Ride - Kingston upon Thames

Seven set out from Knowl Hill with plenty of discussion on what to wear for the ride. Jez unexpectedly appeared at White Waltham to swell the numbers.

We had a few over-keen motorists in the Old Windsor area, but generally the roads were quite quiet. Coffee at Runnymede was times just right, and the temperature rose, ready for the more urban sections through Staines-on Thames (sounds a bit like Blot-on-the-Landscape) and Chertsey to Sunbury on Thames, where we took a little off-route through Bushey Park to the obligatory photos at Hampton Court Palace.

The delightful cycle track on the north bank of the Thames to Kingston was also quite quiet, and at Kingston we found hot dogs, burgers, tagine and wraps to tuck into, all to the dirge of depressing songs played by the busker. Not quite suicidal, we cracked on, staying pretty close to the Thames, taking in a loo stop at Walton and an ice-cream stop at Virginia Water petrol station (the park was heaving, so we beat a hasty retreat!).

No incidents and a very nice temperature made this a most enjoyable ride, in lovely company.
