On an overcast drizzly morning I wasn't expecting many, and indeed there weren't any others in the market square, but I knew Chris would be up at the top of Chain Hill, so there was no difficult decision to make! Chain Hill is usually unpleasant and with a headwind it seemed particularly so, but from there on the main unpleasantness consisted of the drizzle (Chris might add the many lumps!) which became heavier as the morning went on. By Hampstead Norreys we agreed that it was light rain and opted for an early stop at the community cafe. After the stop we warmed up again and tackled the rather nice, quiet route through Snelsmore, Winterbourne, Boxford and over the downs to Woolley from where Chris headed back to Great Shefford.
