Two of us were in shorts and two in long leggings and as we set out it in chilly drizzle into a fresh Westerly wind it looked like the longs had made the right decision, but after 15 minutes the rain had stopped and it warmed up from then on to become a fine Spring day. The quiet stretch of Akeman Street on the approach to Hatherop showed off this part of the Cotswolds at its best with a mixture of fine oaks, fields of crops and stone cottages. Turning at Hatherop gave us a generous tailwind which blew us quickly back to Lechlade for lunch at Lynwoods. Continuing back to Wantage, only the hills at Coleshill and Badbury Clumps interrupted our rhythm, and we were soon back to enjoy a drink and a chat in a KAH garden. A lovely Springtime ride.
