Corallian Holiday 2022 - Sauve and Anduze

A long one today - Pete was feeling the efforts from last week's foray into the Pyrenees so opted out.

The ride to Sauve was pretty uneventful, warming up quite well, and by the time we got to the fountain square, we were ready for buns and cold drinks. An explore of the village followed, with the remnants of the medieval festival of the weekend still in evidence. Plenty of big fish in the river and we did briefly sight a beaver.

The route over to Anduze includes a climb, which started to get hot and by the time we summited, the downhill was a blessed relief. Lunch then in Anduze, indoors, in an air-conned restaurant. Leaving was a bind. It had got hotter and the climb immediately after lunch wasn't particularly welcome.

We'd planned to stop for drinks in Moussac, which didn't go as planned. Firstly nothing was open, and secondly the Club Secretary came an inch (literally!) away from a nasty demise with a car shooting out unsighted from a side road and fortunately skidding to a stop before contact was made.

Onwards then back to Uzes, most of us out of water and the relentless heat beating down. Our lives were saved by Andy who found a water pump in Russan which we used to have a cold head shower under and fill our bottles up
which just about lasted to the end of the ride 15km away.
