It might have been mayhem in Marlborough, but it turned out marvellously sunny and uplifting.

The route took us over to the Lambourn valley and then into the Kennet valley. It was a bit cool when five of us left Wantage Market Place, but we warmed up on the climb to Sparsholt and met up with the Lambourn valley residents in Lambourn - I love it when a plan comes together!

There were a couple of moments with inconsiderate drivers and the inevitable Sunday morning hazards in Marlborough High Street as we made our way to the ever reliable Food Gallery.

The ride back was enlivened by some horses, passed with care, and a large exuberant black dog near Seven Barrows. (Where was our resident dog-whisperer, Jez, when we needed him?) Alfie's provided end of ride refreshments (as many coffees as beers) in the gentle sunshine.
