Only two takers today. Some very tight formation riding was on display. Others may have been deterred by the pre-ride showers, the blustery conditions and yesterday's ride. Chain Hill into the surging cross/headwind was certainly a bugger. Before long the sun came out and it eventually reached 18degC but the wind never let up. The route passed through the picturesque woods of Ashampstead Common before dropping into Pangbourne. From there Goffs Hill (about 3km long but with 1km @Avg. 10% peaking @15%) heading towards Crays Pond made Chain Hill seem easy. After this achievement we headed on to the Ox Shed Cafe at Cholsey, which we agreed rated as "OK but nothing special". Plenty of indoor space for winter use though. From there we resumed our battle with the headwind and, to give us a fighting chance, I decided to cut out the exposed Hagbourne Hill loop on the final leg into Wantage. A tough but satisfying ride I thought.
