It was a pretty hot day to take on this hilly route, so we dialled it back to the "chilled out" setting and took it easy. We made steady progress with plenty of chat and, after a cheeky pause in Chieveley, we rolled into Bucklebury Farm for lunch. Feeling a bit bougie, I had the avo-toast.
It was getting properly hot in the second half so we pause at West Ilsley to re-energize in the Harrow before the final push. Then, on the last leg, my transmission suddenly locked up with no obvious explanation. I managed to get it to turn reluctantly and limped to the finish with some relief. I suspect some trauma deep inside my rear hub - to be investigated.
