After a cool start it very soon warmed up with arm warmers and gilets coming off by the time we topped Hackpen Hill. Turning off Ermin Street we picked our way through some little used back lanes down to Hungerford and the Honesty Cafe just outside town on the A4. Further back lane pottering led us home via Great Shefford and Chain Hill. Definitely a route best ridden in dry weather given the nature of the roads. John G had a last minute puncture as we rolled into the beer garden at the 'Fred's Head so four of us consoled him over drinks in the sunshine.
