We didn't follow the route completely - now Sheepdrove is off limits we took the direct route to Lambourn - pleasant in its own way! Nice tight riding today made it a pleasure to lead.

Some interesting lanes after the obligatory airfield stop at Membury (parapente instruction was underway), at an airfield that doesn't reveal itself until you're practically on the runway!

The Honesty cafe at Hungerford has closed down and is replaced by Trays. What a fantastic welcome for cyclists, and although the prices were on the high side, the food quality was excellent and the choice was wide - Pete was very pleased with his sausage bap.

A few more lanes through Clapton and Wickham and then we climbed to the Ridgeway the easy way, saying goodbye to the Newells at Farnborough, and enjoying the Chan Hill descent.
