After an overcast start the sun eventually came out and it ended up as a very pleasant day. We followed the X1 out of Wantage and trailed behind it to Grove (note to self: try to get away before the bus leaves next time). There seemed to be a bit more traffic around than usual, which I attribute to the half-term holidays and the diversions around the A417 closure at Challow, but not to bad really. It seemed to me that the sunnier it got the more we chatted and by the time we got to Clanfield it was warm enough to be nicer sitting outside the cafe than in. The cafe was doing a roaring trade and had sold out their signature cinnamon buns but the raspberry & white chocolate ones were an excellent substitute. Maybe, dare I say it, even better? A smoothly executed and sociable ride but sadly lacking in any romance I'm afraid.
Oh, and I swallowed my first fly of the season.
