Four hardy souls turned out for the ride on a dull cold day. The early climb up Court Hill seemed to warm most of the group up and for those who were not quite warm enough, the following two climbs seemed to get the blood flowing. We arrived at the Tutti Pole just before 11:00, apparently before the mad rush after the Sunday morning service! Everyone enjoyed a variety of different breakfasts and some excellent coffee served by Rose. The route back to Wantage took us via Lambourn and a slog (for me!!) up the New Road before the descent down Hackpen to make our way through West Challow back into Wantage. Nick left us as we rode past his house and Andy returned home as we reached the Market Place. Pete and I had a swift drink at the King Alfred’s Head, which was very busy with punters enjoying the carvery – I could see Pete’s mouth salivating, so we both left for home. An enjoyable ride with a well-disciplined group.
