Welcome Ride to Shrivenham

Conditions were remarkably mild and still as we gathered in the square with the Christmas market stalls being set up around us. The run to Shrivenham was drama free except for Andy's rear derailer getting stuck in top gear but this failed to slow him down any. The lovely run up the Lambourn Vally and spirited decent of Ashbury Hill got us to Shrivenham where the small cafe did not have any room for us. This had been anticipated so plan B was implemented, and we rode on to the Cantorist at Childrey. This proved to be a big hit, providing a nice location, great food, good coffee and quick service. Two eggs on a bacon sandwich - unheard of!
Back in Wantage the Christmas market was in full swing and we were greeted by the Silver Band with a chorus of jingle bells just as we pulled up to the statue. After a few moments of hesitation three of us retired to the Fred's Head for a pint and some philosophical discourse.
A very pleasant ride.
