Welcome Ride - Ashbury - Lambourn

Eight of us enjoyed a warm-up through Denchworth, Uffington and into Ashbury which prepared us for the climb up to the Ridgeway, where a photo opportunity presented itself (sorry Phil the helpful lady who took the picture was in a hurry!). At this point a clutch of Ferraris sped past - an alternative collective term was suggested by Phil. Immediately after the Ferraris has passed we saw a large flock of deer run across the road - fortunately a couple of drivers were sufficiently alert to slow right down.

Coffee and the usual excellent cakes were enjoyed at a rather full Goodie's Cafe in Lambourn - the soft furnished area was vacated just as our orders were taken! The road past Seven Barrows was almost traffic-free and we managed to avoid the time where the White Horse Challenge sportive descended Blowingstone Hill.

An early finish suggested a refreshment stop at King Alfred's Head - at least for four of us. Thank you all for a very sociable (and dare I say well-disciplined) ride.
