Chain Hill and the undulations in the route over to East Ilsley do not favour group riding but the time spent re-grouping at the hill tops was short. Claire joined us at Windmill House having cycled across from Hagbourne. Despite the ever-present threat of rain we arrived dry at a very quiet Saddleback Cafe and settled in to enjoy refreshments. Louis seemed to make the best food choice with his cooked breakfast, but the teacakes weren't bad either. Shortly afterwards a lot of cyclists arrived, including a large group from Reading, coinciding with a heavy rain shower. When the rain stopped we ventured out to complete the ride and met Jenny at Great Shefford who joined us for a couple of miles. The weather improved as we approached Wantage to conclude a very pleasant incident-free ride.
