On the outward leg we had to cope with a brisk and chilly block headwind, so we tried out a rolling through-and-off formation for a while. It worked well and we kept it up for a good few miles but the obvious downside is you don't get the opportunity to chat much. The (new to us) Cherry Tree cafe was a big hit with all, my American pancakes were excellent. The return leg with the wind now behind us was a delight. A swift pint in the Fred's Head afterwards was a further just reward.
