The wet forecast may have put off all but the hardiest of city tourists. As it turned out, apart from a brief shower on the way back through Abingdon, it was dry and certainly balmy for December.
The ride through the Vale was wet under tyre, with some standing water on the roads, but our feet stayed dry. Flood management around Oxford allowed free flow of water, which is more than could be said for the A34. Our route was largely traffic free, if a little congested with pedestrians in the city centre.
The Jericho Tavern served us well - the bagels are highly recommended. We could have stayed longer but were keen to get back to Wantage by 2:00pm.
