Not your usual October weather, warm and sunny. Four turned up at the Market Place, Louis, who was the original leader could not make it, so Richard led the ride. The ride went out along the Spring Line all the way to Ashbury. We then continued onto Liddington, but John unfortunately had a Di2 failure so he decided to turn back for home. The three remaining riders continued onto The Three Trees Café at Chiseldon which was busy and the pull of bacon or sausage bap, was quickly quashed as the wait was at least 25 minutes, so quicker options were selected, well, we thought they would be quicker, but even three coffees and cakes took about 20 minutes, and they also ran out of lemon drizzle cake – Paul was not happy!! While we were sitting waiting, we saw Rachel Bennett and friends. After the disappointment of the refreshments, we headed back to Wantage at a strong pace. Paul peeled off at Grove to go home for his roast chicken lunch and Jez and I went back into the centre of Wantage and went our separate ways. An enjoyable ride despite the disappointment at the Three Trees Café.
