Not many out today, maybe put off by the fine drizzle that greeted us?

Anyhow, we coincided witjh the the Wantage to Winchester ride for our outward journey - I'm sure they stole our route! So WMP was rammed with riders and men in finery (major and town crier) and we had company at many places.

By Lambourn the drizzle had fizzled out, and there was the odd bit of sunshine too. Lawrence left us at Hungerford to continue on down to Pewsey so we plodded up to the foot of the main event, with John G opting to save his knee and take a shortcut to an early coffee.

Combe Gibbet was as tough as ever, and this side (the 100 Best Climbs side) doesn't have the views until you get near to the top, by which time you don't really appreciate the views fully.... Summit done, it was descent time to rejoin John and take in a coffee.

We agreed to vary the route back, as my ride last weekend went up the A338... so we went up Hangman's Stone Lane and did the Tour de Chaddleworth before plummeting down Chain Hill back to Wantage. Lovely morning out on the bike!
