Today saw a club record turnout with 18 riders taking part. Forming into two groups, as required by regulations, we rode into a fresh headwind for the first half of the ride with plenty of social chat going on. The leading recognisance group found the Waterfront Cafe to be over-run with grockles so we all about-faced and, as two squadrons, went back to Wallingford. There we hit two different cafes for takeaways and listened to the talented buskers while we ate. After that it was a wind assisted and ever warming scoot back to Wantage taking in some disused railway line and gravel track as part of NCR544. Several of us enjoyed a drink in the Alfie's Head afterwards. What a nice way to spend the morning.
