Alternative Holiday Ride #2 - Ashbury

Six of us set off from the Market Place this morning under an ominous looking sky. We were joined shortly after the start by Larry who, after a protracted period of absence from cycling, is making a progressive return to riding. He left us at Baulking but will hopefully be joining us for more regular rides as his fitness improves.

By the time we reached Fernham, jackets had come off displaying a double hat-trick of Corallian jerseys. We rode tightly as a group out through Shrivenham, Bourton and up to the café at Ashbury. Either they put something in the drinks at that café or the patron who asked if we were a racing team needed new glasses!

After our refreshment stop, the hill up to the Ridgeway seemed easier than usual, then we enjoyed the long descent down to Lambourn. Those ominous clouds loitered for the majority of the ride, but we stayed dry.

Beverages and lots of banter were enjoyed post ride at the King Alfred’s Head.
